         영국이 낳은 '신데렐라', "Mary Hopkin" 의 노래랍니다. ^^
 
         "Those Were the Days"
 
         가버린 시절
 
         Once upon a time there was a tavern
         Where we used to raise a glass or two 
         Remember how we laughed away the hours
         Thinks of all the great things we would do  
 
         옛날 우리가 몇 잔의 술을 나누던 선술집이 있었죠
         그 곳에서 우리가 이루었던 모든 멋진 일들을 생각하면서
         수 시간 동안 얼마나 웃으며 보냈는지를 기억해봐요
 
         Those were the days, my friend
         We thought they'd never end 
         We'd sing and dance forever and a day
 
         친구여, 그 '가버린 시절'은 결코 끝나지 않을거라 생각했기에
         우리는 영원토록 노래를 부르고 춤을 추었지요  ...
 
         로 시작되는 노랫말이죠. ^^
 
         (^^ 노래 속의 주인공은 한 대학 동기생들 중의 한 사람이고
          Friend는 절친했던 그 대학 동기생인 것 같네요. ^^ 
          연인 ? 내지 사랑 ? 운운한 얘기는 없슴다. ^^)
 
         (^^ 한글 번역이 마음에 드나요? 
          사실 운영자가 하루 반 나절을 고심하며 번역했는데... 물론 잘 되었겠죠? ㅋㅋ)
 
         Mary Hopkin은 영국 Wales의 Pontardawe에서 1950년에 출생(할머니네...)했다고 되어있네요. ^^
         청년시절에 무명 Folk 가수로 떠돌다가 우리나라로 치면 '전국 노래자랑' 대회에 나가게 되었고 
         그게 녹화된 것을 친구였던 유명한 모델의 소개에 의해
         'Paul McCarteney'(Beatles의 멤버)가 설립한 'Apple Recording Co.'에서
         최초로 곡을 취입하는 ... 가수가 되었죠. ^^
 
        'Those Were the Days'는 1968년 발표하자 얼마 안되어 
         영국 Single Chart 1위, 미국 Billboard Chart 2위에 드는 곡이 되었다 하네요. ^^
         그 후 1969년 'Goodbye', 'Temma Harbour' 등을 발표하였으며 
         이들 곡이 영국 Chart에서 10위 안에 드는 쾌거을 이루었다 하네요. ^^
